Mentoring & Volunteering

Mentoring and Volunteering with HATS

This Fall we will have a new way to sign up for mentoring campouts and volunteering for events, through a site called Membership Toolkit (MTK). Below are the steps you need to get registered with the site and sign up to mentor a campout or even volunteer for a kick-off party or help in the office! Sign-ups are all on a first come, first serve basis. You will be able to manage all your mentoring opportunities throught this site!

Here’s what you need to do to get set up on the HATS Volunteer website:

  1. Click the Mentor or Volunteer Now button below, which will take you to the Membership Toolkit (MTK) website.
  2. Click on the Register/Loginbutton at the top of the left sidebar. This process needs to be completed by the dad. Since HATS is a dad/child organization we need for his information to be first due to how the system works.
  3. If you DO have an account ID with MTK from another organization:
    1. Just log in as a returning user.
    2. It will still make you fill out the contact information as if you are a new user since what is collected can vary by organization.
  4. If you DO NOTalready have an account ID from another group that uses MTK:
    1. Please select “Create Account” and fill in the name, email, and password information.
      1. Please make sure that the email address you use is the one you normally use for HATS.
    2. Click “verify my email” and then check your email for a link to complete the process. The link expires in 2 hours. If you do not receive the email, check your spam or junk folders.
    3. Once you have verified your email address, log back in.
  5. Everyone has to finish the registration process after they have logged in:
    1. Complete the Parent/Family and Student Information
    2. Complete the Directory/Publish Preferences.
    3. Once these forms are complete, you will be presented with forms for Volunteer Opportunities, including Mentoring.
      1. Fill out the “How did you hear about HATS?”form near the bottom of the page
      2. To Mentor, click on the FALLMentor form and fill out what campouts you would like to mentor – there are specific spots for students in the WLA program
  6. If you or your child’s mom is interested in volunteering in other aspects of HATS, please fill out the Volunteer Survey form
  7. Once the Primary Account is set up, the Primary User (the dad) can “invite” other email addressesto access his/her account. This allows the Secondary User (the mom) to have their own login information, but still have access to the family account.
